We suggest you start by making an appointment with a New Home Consultant at your local Platinum Homes showhome. From there, we’ll guide you through the process. It’s as easy as that!

Reading through our lookbook and spending some time here on the Platinum Homes website will also help prepare you for our first meeting. If you’d like a hard copy of the lookbook, please give us your details and we’ll send one out to you.

We don’t assume you will know anything about building a home. That’s our area of expertise and we are here to guide you through the process. Contact your local Platinum Homes team to make an appointment with a New Home Consultant. They will talk you through the process and what you need to know to get started.

Contact your local Platinum Homes team and make an appointment to meet with a New Home Consultant to discuss your plans. If possible, bring the LIM report for your section with you.

We don’t provide a demolition and clearance service, but we can refer you to someone who can do this for you. While that’s happening, we’ll work with you on the design of your new Platinum Home.

There’s nothing you need to do anything before meeting with us. Your New Home Consultant is trained to ask the right questions and gather the information that we need to get things rolling. You may find it helpful to have a browse through this website before meeting us. You’ll find a wishlist feature where you can save your favourite plans and style swatches, so you can discuss these with your New Home Consultant.

Questions about costs, budgets and finance

Every Platinum home is unique because it reflects the individual requirements of its owner. Size, layout, fittings and finishes are chosen by you and influence the final building cost. Whatever you’re looking for, your local Platinum Homes team will work with you to deliver a premium property that’s tailored to your budget.

Platinum Homes doesn’t offer a finance or lending service – but we have a great relationship with NewBuild who are specialists in financing new home building. If you would like to know more about how NewBuild could help you, your Platinum Homes New Home Consultant can arrange an appointment for you with a one of their representatives.

New homes are not subject to the same Reserve Bank lending restrictions as existing homes. It may be possible for you to build a new home if you have a deposit less than 20%, however every lending situation is different. Our advice is to ask your mortgage provider or a company like NewBuild, who are specialists in financing new home building. If you want to know more, your Platinum Homes New Home Consultant can arrange an appointment for you with a NewBuild representative, who will be able to answer your questions about deposits and repayment amounts.

: If you are a first home buyer you may be able to withdraw some, or all, of your KiwiSaver funds to put towards your deposit. You need to have been a member of KiwiSaver for at least three years. We recommend talking to your provider to find out if you are eligible

Questions about Platinum Homes, products and timeframes

Each Platinum Home has unique building requirements which will affect your building time. When you have completed the design process and your home has been fully specified, your New Home Consultant will give you an expected timeframe.

Your New Home Consultant will provide a comprehensive list of inclusions with your building contract and will be able to answer all your questions. Inclusions will vary depending on which plan you are building. Generally, window treatments, earthworks, landscaping and carpeting are not included.

This doesn’t come naturally to all of us, and we are here to help you get it right. You’ll receive a complimentary consultation with one of our specialist Colour Consultants.

We often help clients to find a section. We have preferred status with property developers around New Zealand and often get options on land a lot earlier than the general public. You may also wish to consider one of our house and land packages.

Usually the answer is no. Some clients want to save money or be involved by doing some of the construction work themselves, such as digging foundations. However, all construction work on a Platinum Home from the foundation up must meet the Building Code and is subject to strict health and safety requirements. Doing your own work and failing to meet Building Code compliance can be a significant and expensive mistake. Doing your own work and causing an accident could lead to serious injury and potential prosecution. So, please discuss this early on with your New Home Consultant.

In each region, our permanent Platinum Homes team includes the local Licensee, New Home Consultants, a Construction Works Manager, Colour Consultant and administration staff. They are supported by a qualified trades team including specialist contractors in flooring, building, roofing, plumbing, electrical work and decorating – who will actually build your home. Our local tradespeople are specifically selected for the high level of their workmanship and we develop long-term relationships with them, ensuring consistent quality work on all our homes.
