Meet Adam from Platinum Homes Northland
Watch videoAdam isn't new to the Platinum Homes family, but he is the new licensee taking over from Dean McGonagle, who has held the Northland license since its foundation 21 years ago.
Originally Adam was part of Dean’s building team working as a Construction Manager for Platinum Homes. Furthering an already strong working relationship, Dean continues to be actively involved with the business supporting Adam as he transitions into the leadership role.
Adam is an experienced builder and a Licensed Building Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. He confesses he has a very methodical approach and is passionate about delivering top-class products.” I like the sense of achievement at the end of the day when you’ve handed over a product that is perfect.”
With a background in mid to high-end residential homes, Adam is highly capable working with new home buyers right across the board to the construction of larger expansive family homes. He also acknowledges his Northland teams "phenomenal" collective knowledge and support.
Combined with his team, some of whom who have been with Platinum Homes Northland for over 10 years, they have built a lot of adjusted standard plans through to the design and build of bespoke designs, basically everything from entry-level projects to high-spec developments and all that is in between.
In addition to the knowledge and experience within the local business, part of what drew Adam to acquiring the licensee was high level of standard specification, and the buying power and the established relationships that Platinum Homes have built with their national supply chain.
Platinum Homes Northland has two stunning show homes based in One Tree Point and Kerikeri, with a third one on the way.

Chris & Jennifer Lucas - Northland
Watch video“The experience that we had with Platinum Homes from day one, right through to the handover has been sensational. We weren't just the client; we weren't just the customer. We were part of the build.”
Meet Chris & Jennifer from Northland who recently built a stunning new Platinum Home in the most picturesque location.
Thinking they were firmly settled in Auckland after completing an extensive renovation, and with plans of retirement nearing, Chris and Jennifer were thrown a curveball.
Their daughter, Fiona, and her husband, Sam, discovered a stunning piece of land in Ōmāpere, Northland and asked them if they'd be interesting in building a new home, right next door. After being immediately captivated by the breathtaking setting, they decided to embark on a new chapter, building the retirement home they had always dreamed of.
With Jennifers eye for design, and a homemade sketch of their vision plotted out on an excel spreadsheet, they approached Platinum Homes with their unique design.
Happily reassured by the Platinum team that they could transform the sketch of their dream home, into a tangible reality, Chris and Jennifer began their journey and haven't looked back since!
It was a bold move. “We needed to find somebody who would actually play their part in helping us to achieve the dream. And we did find that company, and that was Platinum Homes. They not only went with it; they went with it with bells on! ”says Chris.
The couple were delighted that the Platinum team could create a home from their own bespoke “homemade house plan,” personalising it for them, and when changes were requested through the build, nothing was too difficult.

“The design inspiration was a beach vibe and I think our designer has captured that very well. This home is 236 sqm, it’s 4 bedrooms and we’ve got 2 bathrooms and one of the bathrooms is quite unique, it’s a three-way bathroom.
When people come through, they love it, and they really get that beach vibe which is what the designer wanted.
We would love to see you at our show home. Come down, we’re open every day of the week.”

Jake's Platinum Story - Taranaki
Watch videoJake lives in the Bay of Plenty and has just built an investment property with his partner in Taranaki.
They purchased their home in the Bay four years ago and realised over that time that they had built up some equity along with savings, so they wanted to look at the next step which for them, was building an investment rental property. With a new build, they could get the 20% deposit they needed rather than the 40% required for an existing home.
They met Jim through a mutual friend who had built some investment properties with Platinum Homes in Taranaki and after talking to him decided he was the guy for them.
“He was able to put us in touch with a mortgage broker that specialised in new home builds and also his local developers where he could source the land from, and because of the off-market deal, we were able to get the land for a very reasonable rate.
Living so far away, Jim made it a very easy process for us to follow, by sending us the weekly updates about how the build process was tracking, including photos. We were able to build a three-bedroom, two-bathroom, spacious home that came in under budget.
As a whole, the whole process with the Taranaki Platinum Homes team has been amazing from start to finish, so much so that we have actually signed up for our second investment property through them”.

Kerry's Platinum Story - Hawke's Bay
Watch videoKerry’s new Platinum Home is in Eskdale in Napier. He originally went to the property with Graeme from Platinum Homes, “who was very enthusiastic about the site and what they could achieve up there.”
Kerry says “I’d always had a plan to have a home that was a little bit different, the site gave us the option to do something that was a little bit contemporary, modern, but also enhancing the naturalness of the area. We ended up going to the Platinum Show Home, they had some very high-class finishes and I was very impressed with the build quality.
The Platinum staff were fantastic. They were very helpful, and I think that’s a testament to Platinum that they coordinated all these different tradespeople to conclude what was a pretty large project.
Whether you are looking at a smaller project or even a large project like this, Platinum definitely have the skills to do that. With Platinum, the communication from their staff has been very strong through this whole build. This property is in excess of 350sqm there’s a lot of things that can go wrong with it in the build and I was amazed how easily everything came together.
You’re dealing with people that get on with each other, they’re easy to deal with, they’re professional, they get back to you, they deliver what they say they’re going to deliver. I think you’re in safe hands when you come to Platinum because they do have the experience and experience is the key thing when you’re building.”

Jonathan and Tamara’s Platinum Story - Rotorua
Watch videoJonathan and Tamara wanted a house designed specifically to suit their family with son Isaiah and Jonathan’s mum. When they found the piece of land they wanted to build on, they talked to the local Platinum Homes Rotorua team about their options. Their new four-bedroom, two living areas, open-plan house was the kind of home they’d always wanted.
“The Platinum team listened to what we needed in the house and helped us to elevate our thinking about what we wanted in the house, in the designs that we ended up with.“
“They had a really easy to follow process where we sat down and worked with Jamie the local new home consultant, she got to know us really well, she understood exactly what we needed and what we were looking for, for our family. They were really supportive in all of our questions. We didn’t know what we were doing, this was the first time we’d built a house. We had no idea what to do. The support and advice we got from the team was amazing. We went through all of the designs and found one that worked really well for us. They were able to adapt the design to suit our budget.”
Jonathan is “really tall”, and the house was built to accommodate him with tall ceilings and tall door frames. Tamara says, “it’s the first time he’s been able to walk freely without hitting his head!”
“The Platinum team were really amazing to work with and went over and above to really help us. We found them to be the most friendly, customer-focused team that we could have looked for. This house is everything we were looking for in our dream home”.

" I was just out walking one day and I saw this new Show Home open and it was the Platinum Show Home. I love the fact that you can have exactly what you want - whereas if you buy there'll always be something that you don't like.
The team as a whole was really good - Nigel, who was the Consultant at the Show Home was really helpful and he laid out what we would like. And David, the Construction Manager, is just so easy to talk to - that's what we found, he didn't talk 'builders talk', he spoke in words that we understood. It's just outstanding - very, very professional and top notch.
Everything was communciated as it should have been - we had weekly diaries from Belinda, which was amazing because it went into great detail, so you could read through exactly what was happening. So, it was simple and easy - they made it that way for you.
People say building a home is difficult... and it's not. Once you know what you want you just tell them and they put it all together, and if you wnat to change something you change it. So, it was just so easy to make sure we had the perfect home."

Ange and Mike’s Video Story - Northland

"First home builds can be daunting to say the least. Add in a newly born baby and a wedding into the mix and you have the three biggest achievements in life. Platinum Homes did not just make it easy but made it simple, achievable and effortless. From the beginning with Nigel Turner in the Watea Show Home right throughout the planning and paperwork stages, colour options and amendments with Dean, Belinda, Sonja and the rest of the Platinum team in Whangarei to a top quality well presented finished home.
Nigel Turner was the first point of contact we had with Platinum Homes at the Watea show home. Because of his friendly welcoming presence, the no nonsense direct information and most of all giving us, a young couple, the time of day to talk and discuss options, made us feel at ease and acknowledged as a potential client not just another nobody as we had felt in other firms which then set the scene to undertake the journey with Platinum Homes.
The acknowledgement and respect was then displayed again meeting Dean and Belinda in more of a social event for the first time. Being welcomed by them put any little remaining fears and niggles at rest with their reassurance and knowledge in the industry. We felt very comfortable in the advice and guidance they showed knowing we have little to no experience in that field. Throughout the planning and build we were kept informed on a weekly basis with further contact on progress and amendments with quick response and action. Having that weekly contact was an essential tool on their behalf, right up until the hand over and beyond the service provided was exceptional.
Would we recommend Platinum Homes to people? YES!! We have already and will continue to do so. You very rarely see positive feedback and only hear the negative but we loved our experience and would do it all over again in a heartbeat."
