People discussing the Platinum Homes process

1. Your initial appointment.

Get in touch with our showhome or sales centre in the area you’d like to build. They’ll arrange an initial meeting with your local New Home Consultant.

Your Consultant will get to know you and understand your lifestyle, particular needs and budget. This home will be built to suit you and your family, so think about what’s important to you and how it can be incorporated into the plan. Our New Home Consultants are here to answer your questions, to listen and learn from you.

2. Choosing your home.

Your New Home Consultant will help you to identify your requirements and the things most important to you, before presenting you with a solution.

If you want to build a Platinum Homes design, we’ll help you find a suitable section (if you don’t already have one) and choose a plan that fits your section and meets your requirements. If you want to change one of our plans, we’ll work with you on your required changes and modifications.

If you choose a Platinum Homes house and land package, we’ll help you select one that meets your requirements for location, features and budget. If you want a custom design, we’ll work closely with you throughout the design process to ensure it fits you and your lifestyle.

3. Refining your home design.

Once you have selected your home, we’ll help you select materials and finishes – taking inspiration from a site visit or conversation with a specialist if required.

Once the details are finalised, we will then prepare and price the building contract for your new Platinum home. We will also ask for a small deposit for preparing the drawings required by your local council for the building consent.

At this point you’ll be wondering when you’ll be able to move into your new home. Every Platinum home is unique and there are many factors that can impact the timeframe of your build. Your New Home Consultant will keep you updated and give you expected timeframes as you move through the planning phase.

4. Getting ready for construction.

Your local council must sign off the design and issue a building consent.

Once it’s all signed off, we can start building your new home. You will meet your Construction Manager, who will take over from your New Home Consultant as your main point of contact for the building phase. It’s finally time to get ready for your new home to be built.

5. Construction of your home.

Time to build your home. The building phase is managed by your Platinum Homes Construction Manager.

Your Construction Manager will update you as each key milestone is achieved. They’ll let you know when the slab goes down, the roof goes on and when your kitchen is completed. The timing of these milestones varies from home to home, so questions about your timings will be answered by your Platinum Homes Construction Manager.

6. Completion of your new home.

When your home is finished your local council will confirm that it meets the requirements of your building consent.

Once this is confirmed - you can move in! Your New Home Consultant will contact you to arrange a time for our handover at your new home. They will help you get to know your new home and explain all you need to know. They’ll also present you with our Welcome Home Pack, which includes care instructions for your new home plus your warranty option.

At Platinum Homes we’ve built homes for more than 2,200 Kiwi families since 2003. We’re proud of our proven track record, but what really matters to us is making our clients happy.
